With a lot more people returning natural there is a lot of advice out there. At times we turn commonly shared advice into not just facts but rules, the do’s and don’t’s

It is easier than ever to get swept up in how others say you should do your hair. But if I’m honest there were times that I did things that seemed unconventional to others. Read More

One day I was out and about running errands with my s.o and let’s just say when I looked in the mirror I saw more frizz then curl. I forced myself to get up get dressed and embrace where my hair was at that day.

We have all experienced a day when our hair just didn’t give off that va va voom.Well that was the day I was having. I usually love when my hair is fluffy and is giving me a bit of body. This day I had big hair but I felt it could use a deep conditioner cough or two.

When wash day rolls around we pull out all of our hair products. We pull out our products for cleansing, conditioning, and styling. All of that is fine and dandy but what if I told you it could be easier.

Here’s the truth  wash day will always be wash day. However, if you choose your products right you can shorten your steps. For instance take creme of nature’s cleansing conditioner the  directions say to cleanse your hair as if you are using a shampoo then leave it in for it to do its magic. well my friend I think we  just skipped our deep conditioner now didn’t we.

How I learned the importance of reading product labels

It was my first year of college. I was in a new town, and with new towns there are new hair stores. When heading off to college I didn’t think about that difference in fact it never crossed my mind.

I didn’t pack a blow dryer or bumpers so my curls were my go to. I decided to try out a new shampoo. I heard good things about their other products so why not try their shampoo and conditioner right? I couldn’t have been more wrong.

How I learned the importance of trimming my hair

When I was growing up like most little girls my mom did my hair. When I got older I started taking more initiative. However, Although I was learning about my  hair I had a major issue.

As a tween I hated  getting my hair cut. I cringed at the thought of it. My mom and my sister tried to explain the benefits of trimming your hair ,and I just wasn’t going for it.I wanted long hair.I didn’t want to lose any length. Although it was explained to me that a trim was for the over health of my hair, I didn’t want scissors anywhere close to my head.

Delaying wash day is not the move

You set an entire day aside for it. It’s marked in your calendar so you won’t forget the date. You have done everything to make sure that this particular day is a priority, and that day is wash day. It comes like clock work and some-how we still manage to put it off as if ignoring it will make it go away.

Wash day has been characterized  as a dreaded day amongst the natural hair community and  with good reason. Although we love trying new hair products, and  the latest hair style what actually goes into wash day can be less intriguing. Read More

Why the paddle brush was sent by the enemy

photo:Allthingshair.com

All curly girls know that it’s not only important to detangle but, what we use to detangle. Recently I went on a trip to Disney world. Some how in the mist  of packing and unpacking I  dun dun dun..  misplaced my wide tooth comb 😩.

Loosing my wide tooth comb was just the beginning of the horror story. The trip was amazing I went on great rides and had a blast. However, due to going on water rides I had to account for the exposure to chlorine so, I did what most curly girls would do begin to prep for wash day. When I couldn’t find my comb I thought hmm maybe I’ll finger-detangle. But, when it came down to it I just wasn’t as patient as I would like to have been.
