Hey Curl friends! This past wash day was exciting because I tried out something new. I was looking on Pinterest (Which is all too uncommon). If you are looking to get into DIY’s or looking for new soup recipes, hairstyle or whatever Pinterest is definitely the go to. This particular time I saw recipes for a curly cream and lets just say it peaked ya girls interest. I jumped at the chance to try something new.
So, here’s the thing recipes are great, but I look at them as outlines. I barely even use them cooking it drives my guy up a wall. Long story short I colored a little outside of the lines and came up with my own recipe inspired by Pintrest of course. I mixed cocoa butter with shea butter to start.
Once those two ingredients were blended well I added in about a spoon full of coconut oil. Then I added a few drops of vitamin e for preservation and finally a few scoops of eco styler black castor oil and flaxseed gel and boom there you go! My first attempt at a curly Creme.
I will say this I was a thousand and one percent comfortable with each ingredient that I used so there’s that. The results were pretty solid it left my hair light and moisturized. My hair was and still is on day five very soft. Here’s the thing I did notice a bit of frizz.
So on day three I ended up refreshing the outer layer of my hair. What I would recommend is that if you want more hold you should add more gel to your mix. Please note that due to the consistency of shea butter be sure that you are evenly distributing the product. It’s not as creamy as a store brought product. I’m saying this based off of my personal experiences it can be but mines wasn’t. Be gentle with me I am a beginner.
I would recommend that you Start with your ends and work your way up as usual. Butters go along way so you won’t need as much as you may usually use which is always a plus. As long as you work the product in evenly your good to go.
Like I said earlier I noticed frizz in certain places. With that being said I just want to rehiterate be sure to take your time applying to ensure that it is evenly distributed. Overall my hair really responded to this mix. When I shook my hair out in the morning it was light and full. I had a great experience with this recipe. If you have made your own curly cream let me know about your experiences in the comments below. Remember, be happy, be curly, be you, and you will never fail!
