Hola chica’s! I don’t know about you all but I’m all about some clumpage. No clumpage is not a word but it’s a word now you feel me. Any way I just love the way my curls look when they clump together. I’m here for it! I know that some people like to do a ton of separating when it comes to their curls but ummm this girl not about it! There are a few things that I do in order to get my preferred amount of curl clumping.
I’m going to share with you what works for my hair. So grab a seat and lean in close while a I tell you a few of my secrets. So of course the act of clumping takes place on wash-day. After washing my hair I apply conditioner of course. Here is what I do differently. Remember in an earlier post I shared that I like to detangle before shampooing. One of the reasons is because allowing my hair to clump is the goal. I detangle before and after shampooing. Sometimes after I apply conditioner but never after I have rinsed out my conditioner when I’m going for major clumping.
I don’t know about you, but it seems that after rinsing out conditioner my hair clumps. After a good conditioning the curls are more defined and they make really nice thick curls. These curls are created by multiple curls sticking together a.k.a clumping. I like this look for myself. I mean of course I do or I wouldn’t be writing this post for all of you lovely Afro frenzies.
Another thing that I do in the search for clumping is when I apply my hair product I smooth it in. I take my hair in small to smedium sections and I smooth the product in. This way when it dries it will dry together. My goal is not to look like I only have a few strands of hair just that I have fuller curls and they don’t appear to look like angel hair noodles but instead corkscrew shaped noodles (fusilli).
After applying my product I just allow my hair to air dry like I would ordinarily. Just a word of caution only detangle your hair with out conditioner if you have prepooed and are going to be using the shower stream. If you do not intend on prepooing I would recommend detangling with the conditioner in your hair then let it sit a few minutes and rinse it out that way your less likely to run into knots. I hope that this was helpful in your search for clumpage. Remember, be happy, be curly, be you, and you will never fail!
