Dear 20 something there is no expiration date

Happy friday to ya! Welcome back to Afro Frenzy. Lately there has been this reoccurring theme in a lot of the conversations I have been having with other women. The theme is that they are at a point in their life where they feel that they have to really began to get their life together. Their goals, careers, relationships  all have to be figured out before thirty or now that they are in their thirties. This is not true!

One of the biggest myths out there is that you must have  it all figured out by a certain age. News flash no one does. We are all figuring it out. Everyday everyone that you meet and interact with are trying to figure out some aspect of their lives. Our lives and even us as individuals are always  changing.

Every year were getting to know ourselves at a different stage in our lives. Growth should be constant not limited. We put limits on ourselves by saying if I haven’t become what I thought I should be by now and  everyone else has there is something wrong. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. If you don’t have it all figured out you’re not alone.

The most “together person” you know, doesn’t have it all together. She’s probably leaving a board meeting right now  and just realizing that she has toilet tissue on her shoe (from when she went to the bathroom to wipe the lipstick off her teeth).

The point is were all human and everyone is a little super. We all have our own unique abilities. Out  light is unique to what God has measured out for us we just have to figure out how best to share that little light with the rest of the world.

You don’t have an expiration date! This may be news to you but  you are not a cartoon of milk. your dreams don’t have an expiration date either. If you want to go back to school it’s not too late. If you want to start a business or adopt a baby it’s not too late for that either.

But don’t just go after your dreams go after them unapologetically. You have nothing to be ashamed of. There is someone who appears to have everything and is wishing they had been on a futon in their thirties going after their passion. They are wishing they were you the one who believes that they don’t have it all figured out.

Trusting in the plan God has for your life can be hard when you can’t see the full picture but it doesn’t mean there is no longer a plan. You were designed for a time such as this to be exactly who you are. We value you  here at Afro Frenzy and hope you know just how wonderful you really are. Be happy, be curly, be you, and you will never fail!
