How I learned the importance of reading product labels

It was my first year of college. I was in a new town, and with new towns there are new hair stores. When heading off to college I didn’t think about that difference in fact it never crossed my mind.

I didn’t pack a blow dryer or bumpers so my curls were my go to. I decided to try out a new shampoo. I heard good things about their other products so why not try their shampoo and conditioner right? I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The shampoo had sulfate in it. When I came out of the shower my hair was brittle and dry. I didn’t use the shower stream that day and I’m not really sure it would have helped.

I proceeded to try to comb my hair. My hair was in more knots and tangles then I could count. I called home in tears. To say the least it was a long night.I sat on my bed working through the tangles for hours.

All my life I used one line and my first time exploring was a disaster. This doesn’t mean that I should have never tried something new. What it does mean is I should have been more careful of what I chose.

Making wise decisions with your hair is a must. By reading the label you can save on time and a world of pain. Using products that are not the right fit makes your wash day unnecessarily gruesome. There isn’t a one size fits all when it comes to products, but being diligent is helpful. Remember,be happy, be curly, be you ,and you will never fail.
